The Arms of Matthew S. Whisman

Arms design and rendition by The Armorial Register

The colours Blue and White reflect those of the Kentucky State flag. The fleurs-de-lis represent the city of Louisville, the armigerís birthplace. The Sacred Heart of Mary of Our Lady of Sorrows refers to the armigerís Catholic faith and the seven sorrows of Mary. The armigerís Marian connection became important through his Catholic School, the seven sorrows helping to shape Christianity. The skull is a remembrance of mortality and the bee illustrative of community and industry, regeneration, wisdom and obedience. The anchor signifies the armigerís ancestors journey to America along with hope, the Cross and Godís Promise with Noah.

The white stag of the crest is a messenger and protector of all creatures acting with piety. The eye upon the sun is the All-Seeing Eye; God Sees everything and is always with us. The
Claddagh ring is a symbol of Irish Heritage and represents love, loyalty, and friendship.
